THE GREATEST OF THESE

December 10, 2011 Leave a comment

It’s already happening. Upon Glenn Beck’s announcement of Restoring Love, miracles are happening, and not just since the announcement, but over the past year that have led to this point.

Just days before the announcement of Advancing Honor

A year ago, December 2010, I had the opportunity to speak with Glenn Beck in Wilmington, Ohio, and I shared with him the most significant thing I took home from the 8-28-10 Restoring Honor Rally. 8-28 was the first time in my life that I felt I could make a difference. He told me, “Keep that spirit going. Do not let it go.” He had no idea that what he told me was already underway in a big way–Advancing Honor.

Just days before the announcement of Restoring Love

Earlier this month, I spoke with Glenn again at a book signing in York, PA. Not really thinking about what I would tell him, for some reason, I simply said, “I love ya, Glenn.” He replied, “I love you, too.” I had no idea that what I told him was the theme for his next major project–Restoring Love.

Over the past year

The morning after the Restoring Honor Rally on 8-28-10, I was driving to church and reflecting on hope. Sitting at a stop light, I saw a hot air balloon gracefully rising over the horizon. I thought to myself, Hope Rises, just as the sun and that hot air balloon were doing that morningIt was a new day for America.

The evening of 9-15-10, I was driving to dinner out and reflecting on hope and that hot air balloon. Amid that very thought, I looked out my window and saw a hot air balloon rising over the hill. I was blown away by the “coincidence,” almost serving as a reminder that Hope Rises!

The day after the Advancing Honor Rally on 5-27-11, I was driving home and listening to Chris Tomlin’s song ‘I Lift My Hands’ on the radio. If you know the song, you know where I’m going with this. The very moment I heard the line of the song, “Let faith arise,” I caught glimpse of a hot air balloon rising over the treeline in front of me. It was meant to happen. Faith Rises!

What is coming

This is incredible. Faith & Hope are associated with hot air balloons on separate occasions over the past year. With faith & hope, what’s missing? Love. And now, Restoring Love. I’m expecting miracles! I wrote this in September: “I don’t know what this all means, but you can’t just ignore that it is happening. So far, we have Faith Rises, Hope Rises–both tied to hot air balloons. What’s next? Something is coming!” I expect 7-28-12 to be the greatest stop to this point on this journey that began on 9-12-09.

In culmination of Restoring Love, the past year is explained perfectly in the Bible verse, 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.”

RIDING THE SAME WAVE

November 14, 2011 Leave a comment

Right now, I have hot air balloons, surfing, and hope on my mind. I know, weird. How do they connect? Check it out.

Since 2009, I believe something miraculous has been happening in the country. As we see the best that bad has to offer in corrupt leaders, an economy on the brink, or anti-American attitudes growing from within, the best of good is also at work.

God is just as active, just as invested, and just as interested in how all this looks in the end. While darkness may steal the spotlight (especially in the media), God uses the simple things in life to communicate great things to man and accomplish great things through him. We just have to be mindful of His “breadcrumbs” and follow them.

The morning after the Restoring Honor Rally on 8-28-10, I was driving to church and reflecting on hope. Sitting at a stop light, I saw a hot air balloon gracefully rising over the horizon. My very next thought was, Hope Rises, just as the sun and that hot air balloon were doing that morningIt was a new day for America.

That day was like a quake to the spiritual foundation of America and a tsunami was on its way.

I found this picture of many people riding the same wave, and it uniquely illustrates what I believe is happening in the country.

In the last year or so, I have met or reunited with people who were “riding the same wave” as me, separately and on our own. For example..

I met people who were already engaged in the same activities as me. We were naturally able to team up to accomplish more.

I met people who I was able to help and they me. We were naturally able to complement each other without even trying.

I reunited with old friends I had not seen in years who shared my same vision for making a difference. We were naturally able to bring our talents together.

I had people who I never met before contact me to discuss their ventures, which happened to be inspired by that same day in August that I mentioned earlier.

I read about other people across the country who were also on this same journey as me. When I read their stories, it was as if I was reading my own–no joke, nearly word for word.

I truly believe that all of these people were riding the same wave, whether they know it or not–a wave from that spiritual tsunami. On that wave, the puzzle pieces seemed to fit, miracles happened, and we were all heading in the same direction.

The wave is still moving, and I’m getting a feeling it’s about to make for some great surfing. Many have fallen off their surfboards, off the wave, as the months have passed. Maybe it got old. Maybe politics took over. Maybe they missed the spiritual component behind it all. But there are those who remain.

This might not make any sense to you. That’s okay, I don’t think it’s supposed to for everyone. But if it does, or it strikes something inside of you, then you either might have been riding the same wave at one time, or it may be time to pick up your surfboard.

When all else falls, Hope Rises. Remember it. Look for it.

DOUBLE PORTIONS

Double Portion

The other day, I went out for some coffee. I was already over my budget for coffee that week, but something inside of me said, “Just do it.” Normally, that would be my coffee addiction talking, but not this time, really!

For some reason, I did not go to the coffee shop closest to me, but went for a drive to one farther away.

God has this really interesting way of taking me “out of my way” to show me something about Himself, and He was about to do it again.

As I was driving, I thought about the hard times you and I face in the present, and how those times will be remembered and appreciated when we experience favor in the future. Here’s the secret–no matter what you’re going through at this very moment…

Have faith in the present that there is hope for the future.

The first couple lines of Chris Tomlin’s All My Fountains say, “This dry and desert land–I tell myself keep walking on. I hear something up ahead–water falling like a song.” As you walk in your personal desert land, believe that you’re about to hear that first drop of water on the path ahead (Isaiah 61:11b). There are good days ahead (Proverbs 4:18).

God uses simple things on earth to communicate great things to man. So, I arrived at the coffee shop and ordered my favorite drink of the season, a Pumpkin Spice Latte. When the barista extended my drink to me, it was not what I ordered. She cheerfully apologized, corrected the order, and asked me if I would like to have both drinks. I said sure, thinking nothing of it and wondering what I would do with it.

On the drive home, it hit me when I looked down and saw this…

Here I had a Pumpkin Spice Latte, which I asked for, and a Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, which I did not expect–a double portion of Pumpkin Spice.

These two drinks, sitting side by side, is a picture of what God will do for us in life.

God gives a double portion (Isaiah 61:7).

There was no way I could drink both of these.

God gives us more than we know what to do with (Ephesians 2:7; 3:20).

To make room for the extra coffee, I had to remove a cup of old, lukewarm, black coffee from one of the cup holders. How often do we hold onto the “old, lukewarm, black coffees” of life longer than we should when God wants to give us something so much better? We have grown so accustomed to drinking a stale coffee in life, we think there is no way we could do without it. Just so you know, I was not drinking from that old cup of coffee! Maybe we shouldn’t keep old coffee cups sitting around to dirty up our car.

God replaces the old cup that has no use (Revelation 3:16).

This picture tells me that double portions are coming my way. No matter what you lack at this very moment, have faith in the present that there is hope for the future of double portions coming your way–not just to get more, but to give more glory to God for what He has done.

Get Ready. He will provide.

BUTTERFLIES AND FOUR WHEELERS

We saw eagles here

Awhile back, a friend and I were able to get away and enjoy some time in the mountains. There is nothing better than sitting around a campfire, listening to country radio, and eating charred marshmallows (That’s how I like them).

On one day, we decided to hike the boundary of the entire, several hundred acre land. The owner of the land told us to “follow the posted signs,” so that’s what we did. At some point, we picked up someone else’s posted signs, and their signs took us a lot farther than we wanted to go. We got lost!

Once we came to grips with the reality that we really were lost–fighting that familiar urge to go just a little bit farther–we looked for anything that could lead us back to something familiar. I had a moment in which I thought we could actually have to spend the night out in this wilderness. But at the same time, I had this gut feeling that we were going to find a way out before nightfall, because I had always found a way before. I have never been on the wrong side of these types of situations. Little did I know, God was about to give us a little help on this one.

We happened across a path, decided to follow it in the direction that felt right, and eventually came to a fork in the path. Looking down the path which forked left, we saw an incredible cloud of butterflies fluttering down the path together (hundreds of them…I thought we were in a Snow White movie!). So, I thought maybe God was telling us to go that way. To cut a long story short, they led us to a great view and railroad tracks, but it did not end there.

Where the path led

We thought the railroad tracks would lead us into town, but they were never ending, and we grew tired and doubtful, so we gave up on the tracks and decided to turn around in order to backtrack our every step through the woods, knowing it would take us into the night. That would have been a mistake, and God knew it, because just as we turned around, there were two four wheelers coming our way! The kind people picked us up and dropped us off on the main road, and we made our way back to our cabin.

On our long walk back to the cabin, I said to my friend half humorously, praise God for butterflies and four wheelers! I was reminded that we need to help each other out in our times of great need. I was reminded that God takes care of the smallest sparrow and He will always take care of us.

GOD USES SIMPLE THINGS, LIKE HOT AIR BALLOONS

Wilmington House of Prayer

God uses simple things in life to communicate great things to man. We just have to be mindful of them.

I have no idea what this all means yet or where it is leading. I am just following God’s breadcrumbs to His purposes. I about fell over when I found this on the side of the House of Prayer in Wilmington, Ohio. If you can see, notice the man on the ground letting go of the rope, releasing the balloon to rise.

What makes this sighting more significant is that I already had a special bond with this house of prayer, witnessed miracles through it, and started another house of prayer in Pennsylvania because of it. I had caught glimpses of this image before, but never realized its meaning until after my other sightings mentioned above and never realized it was actually on the house of prayer until this particular trip in August 2011.

I don’t know what this all means, but you can’t just ignore that it is happening. So far, we have Faith Rises, Hope Rises–both tied to hot air balloons. What’s next?

Something is coming!

DIVINE INTERVENTIONS IN 2011

January 1, 2011 1 comment

Today, my devotional reading from Ephesians 3:20 took me back to a moment I had a couple weeks ago.

As I was walking out of the church kitchen into the gymnasium and thinking about my plans for 2011, I stopped (both walking and thinking) and felt the need to ask God how my plans could be used to accomplish something for Him, what purposes should be fulfilled for Him through my plans.

This was not a generic prayer or just an acknowledgement of a common belief, which is easy for any of us to do in our busy lives of making plans and setting goals; it was an application of Ephesians 3:20 that has meaning, to rest my goals on God, “Who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” for the purpose given at the beginning of that verse, to bring “all glory to God.”

When you ask God to use something of yours to accomplish something for Him, you better raise your level of expectation to contain His level of intervention.

I believe 2010 was a year of preparation for 2011. It’s your time.

MY MIRACLE IN WILMINGTON

Wednesday Morning

As I was getting ready to leave my hotel room for the day, I prayed for divine connections. In the elevator, a woman pointed out the ‘shut door’ button in the elevator. Not only are the letters rubbed off, but paint off the entire button, showing people are quick to get that door shut, because we are always in a hurry. It reflects the lesson that we need to slow down in life. I got to wondering, what was that woman doing on the third floor when her room was on the first floor? She was the right person in the right place at the right time to share that principle with me, which I happened to share with every person I met in the elevator after that point.

Wednesday Afternoon

I had the opportunity to speak with Glenn Beck and I shared with him the most significant truth I received from the message of the 8-28 Restoring Honor Rally, that 8-28 was the first time in my life that I felt I could make a difference. He told me, “Keep that spirit going. Do not let it go.” He had no idea that what he told me was already underway in a big way–the Advancing Honor Rally.

Wilmington, Ohio is a small town surrounded by countryside and farmland and was tagged “Ground Zero” of the bad economy after their DHL facility shut down. Despite their suffering, good people came together from different churches to start the Wilmington House of Prayer, which is open 24/7 and has been for the past year. After my conversation with Beck, I visited their house of prayer and was amazed at the Spirit flowing from the individuals in the room.

Wednesday Evening

I witnessed a miracle at the very end of Glenn Beck’s last show there in Wilmington. First, I had wanted to bring business cards along on my trip to Wilmington, in hopes to network and meet new people there. When I stopped at my first rest stop on the drive out to Ohio, I realized I had forgotten them. I looked in my wallet and found only one business card. My first thought was, who is meant to have this one business card? I went through the entire trip, not really thinking about the business card.

On the evening of Wednesday, December 15, I took my seat on the front row for Beck’s last show there. As the crowd started to fill in, I talked with many of the folks from Wilmington and noticed the seat to my right was still vacant. My mind went back to that one business card. A nice lady from Wilmington eventually took that seat. After the show, we exchanged business cards. She said that she volunteers in the house of prayer and that she would like to pass along my contact information to the woman who manages the Wilmington House of Prayer. That is not a mistake! My one business card was meant for her! Her desire in obtaining my information was to pray for us. My desire in obtaining her information was to pray for them. That is how it should be.

That divine connection sealed an already growing burden inside me, that we go back to the days when the church doors were always open. When I think about the prospect of a house of prayer, I think about the people we see wandering the streets in the middle of winter and the neighborhood kids who knock on the church door wondering if anything is happening at the church that evening.

Miracles Happen. Merry Christmas!
